CM Mamata Banerjee honors meritorious students, promises government support to prevent dropouts

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently commended and honored the outstanding students who successfully passed their secondary and higher secondary examinations.

During the event, she made a significant announcement, ensuring that no student would be forced to discontinue their education due to financial constraints. The state government, Banerjee stated, would extend its assistance in every possible way to support students in need.

Expressing her heartfelt congratulations to the students, the Chief Minister acknowledged the crucial role played by their parents in nurturing their potential. She recognized their sacrifice and expressed deep gratitude, saying, "I salute those parents who have given birth to such promising children."

In her address, Banerjee emphasized that the government was committed to eliminating financial barriers to education. She assured students facing financial hardships that the government would provide necessary financial support, highlighting the existence of numerous scholarships administered by the state government. Encouraging students to timely apply for these scholarships, she urged them not to let financial constraints hinder their academic pursuits.

To ensure efficient communication between students and the government, the Chief Minister announced the installation of a dedicated letter box outside Vikash Bhavan. This letter box would serve as a means for students in need to inform the government about their requirements. Banerjee emphasized that the government would take prompt action upon receiving such requests, extending support to economically disadvantaged students.

Banerjee also addressed a student's concern regarding the removal of the list from Presidency, stating firmly, "I will make sure the list is released again." She advocated for fair opportunities for all students and expressed her discontent regarding delays from the Bengal Board, asserting that students should be given a fair chance to succeed.

Highlighting the government's efforts to enhance educational opportunities, the Chief Minister announced the extension of the Graduation course from three to four years. Additionally, the time limit for completing a Master's degree has been reduced from two years to one year, aiming to streamline the academic journey for students.

Banerjee concluded her address by informing the audience about the establishment of an institute in Salt Lake dedicated to studying IPS and IS. She expressed her satisfaction with the improved academic outcomes achieved within the span of two years and extended the summer vacation by one week to ensure students had sufficient time for relaxation and rejuvenation.
